The ultimate aim of every photographer is to be able to produce natural color prints on paper in what-ever Size is desired. Autotype Trichrome Carbro is used by practically all leading color workers for this purpose. Prints are regularly made in sizes as large as 16 by   Richard Kauffman passed away some years ago - he was born in I wish I had met him. He was a master color carbon/carbro printer and lover of the Sierra Nevada. His book, "Gentle Wilderness, The Sierra Nevada", got me started on my quest to make color carbon prints. His son is alive and living in Fresno, California.

One major advantage of carbro was the ability to make enlargements because the tissues were exposed in contact with a silver bromide enlargement rather than contact printed. Therefore, carbro prints tend to be larger than carbon prints.

What amazes me is that a carbro is a registered print. I had to register the three colors, and I can’t see any lack of registration in my prints. And even now there isn’t a more beautiful color photograph than a well-made carbro. More information on carbro prints.
